We are active in the production of loudspeakers since 1976, since then we had the time to test each kind of construction. There have been Blumenhofer Acoustics Loudspeakers up to 4-Ways.
In the end the solution that paid more than the other ones was the 2-ways Loudspeakers.
But the disadvantages of a 2-ways loudspeaker are clearly there and they need to be solved.
At start we looked for simple existing drivers able to fulfill the needs of our construction. Quite fast we reached the end or the limits of what was available on the market, but we were not satisfied.
Then we started our own development and this costed quite a lot of time and efforts.
These development led us mainly in one direction: extending the range of the components at no cost for their musicality.
The result have been several.
For the mid high range:
- improvement of compression drivers
- development of further components for existing compression drivers
- development of new front horn specially for the drivers we have chosen.
This led to a very fine optimization for all of the single pieces that we introduced into these components and trough them a highly specialization that means that there is a bi-univocal dependency between the new Blumenhofer compression driver and the front horn studied for it. That means that that compression driver is only working perfectly with that horn and vice versa.
For the bass, we started a cooperation with ATE in Ulm and Ehman and Partner in Gundelsheim.
The result of the cooperation with ATE are 2 membranes structures. The P2F® and P2C® membranes for our drivers.
This development went tight in hand with the development of the complete bass drivers unit.
They have then been built into the special drivers by Ehman and Partner

Seit 1976 baut Blumenhofer Acoustics Lautsprecherboxen. Seitdem haben wir die Möglichkeit gehabt, jede Art Konstruktion zu bauen. Es gab sogar 4-Wege Blumenhofer Lautsprecher.
Im Endeffekt die Lösung, die sich am Meisten bezahlt gemacht hat ist die 2-Wege Konstruktion.
Es gibt aber klare Nachteile in der 2-Wege Konstruktion, und dafür mussten wir eine Lösung finden.
Der erste Schritt war, bestehende Treiber zu suchen, die in der Lage waren die Bedürfnisse unseres Konzept zu erfüllen. Ziemlich schnell hat sich als eine Sackgasse erwiesen: es hat nicht gereicht
Dann haben wir angefangen unsere eigene Entwicklung zu führen. Das hat Zeit und Geld gekostet.
Ziel dieser Entwicklung war: den Einsatzbereich der Komponenten zu erweitern, ohne deren Musikalität negativ zu beeinträchtigen.
Viele waren die Ergebnisse.
Für den Mittelhochtonbereich:
- Verbesserung der Kompressionstreiber
- Entwicklung von Komponenten für bestehenden Kompressionstreibern
- Entwicklung von einem neuen Hornvorsatz.
Das hat zu einer feinfühlige Veredelung von jedem einzelnen Komponenten die wir in die Kompressionstreiber eingefügt haben und dadurch auch zu einer sehr hohe Spezialisierung der Komponenten. Das bedeutet, daß es einen engen Zusammenhang zwischen den neuen Blumenhofer Treiber und deren Hornvorsätze gibt. Jeder Blumenhofer Treiber funktioniert perfekt nur mit dem dazugehörigen Horn und vice-versa.
Für den Bass haben wir eine Zusammenarbeit mit ATE in Ulm und Ehman and Partner in Gundelsheim.
Das Ergebnis dieser Kooperation mit ATE sind die 2 Membranen für unsere Treibern, die P2F® und P2C®.

Blumenhofer Acoustics costruisce diffusori acustici già dal 1976, da allora abbiamo avuto la possibilità di fare quasi qualunque tipo di costruzione. Sono esistiti anche diffusori Blumenhofer a 4 vie.
Ma alla fine la soluzione che si è rivelata essere la più efficace è quella a 2 vie, non ostante i suoi svantaggi che vanno anche risolti.
All'inizio la ricerca andava in direzione del reperimento di componenti esistenti sul mercato che fossero in grado di soddisfare le esigenze di questo progetto. Abbastanza presto ci siamo resi conto del limite di quanto disponibile sul mercato: non ci soddisfaceva.
Poi abbiamo iniziato a fare la nostra ricerca e sviluppo e questo ha avuto il suo costo in termini di tempo e denaro.
Obiettivo della ricerca? Estendere il campo di utilizzabilità dei singoli componenti.
Abbiamo ottenuto i risultati sperati.
Per il medioalto:
- miglioramento dei driver a compressione
- sviluppo di ulteriori componenti per driver a compressione esistenti
- sviluppo di nuove trombe frontali per i driver scelti.
Questo ha portato ad una raffinatissima ottimizzazione di ogni singolo componente di questi altoparlanti. Questo significa anche una relazione bi-univoca tra il driver a compressione Blumenhofer e la sua tromba frontale: uno senza l'altro non funzionano, almeno non secondo i nostri criteri e livelli di qualità desiderati.
Per il basso abbiamo iniziato una cooperazione con ATE ad Ulm ed Ehman and Partner a Gundelsheim.
Il risultato della cooperazione con ATE sono le 2 membrane, P2F® e P2C®, per i nostri altoparlanti.
Questo sviluppo è andato di pari passo con lo sviluppo della completa unità mediobassa assieme ad Ehman and Partner.
